ABOUT CHRIS ALKER
Chris Alker is a New York City based Architect, writer, & DJ. Originally from Houston, TX he moved to New York City in 2004. With a passion for art, architecture, and music, he has tapped into the city's creative pulse in order to share his ideas, his writings, and his Damaged-Disco record collection. Unable or unwilling to choose a single medium for his creative output, he operates in the space between architecture, music, & prose. Each informing and expanding the other, he is constantly writing about music and dancing about architecture.
He is responsible for raucous dance parties, countless building projects, is a contributing writer for multiple digital and print publications, has lectured at Yale's prestigious American Studies program, is the former label manager turned ambassador of Subtrak Records, and is one half of the DJ duo DELUXE.
He has an all-vinyl monthly video podcast at Halcyon Record Shop in Brooklyn called Function Factory, and he is a resident DJ at Stay Gold in Manhattan where he plays the 2nd and 4th Saturdays.
Chris can be commissioned for DJ gigs, architecture, nightlife lectures, DJ mixes, custom playlists, & prose.
