DELUXE began as a monthly party at Gin Palace in downtown New York City's East Village founded by Chris Alker, aka The Dance Machine, in collaboration with turntablist and producer DJ Anubus. Following Anubus' defection out west, Brandon Cappellari aka DIMS, known for his successful soiree"I Wanna See All My Friends At Once" and stellar summer groove mixes, stepped up to the plate. For the next year and a half DIMS and The Dance Machine held court. In that time they amassed a sound archive of their live mixes featuring special guests: Andy Pry (Tiki Disco), Ron Like Hell (Wrecked NYC), Allies For Everyone (KID Recordings), Omri S. Quire (East Side Social Club), DJ Bruce (Razor-N-Tape), & Map of the World at Night (Nurvous Records). Chris and Brandon have since moved operations to the East Village's premiere 3-story bar/lounge, The VNYL, where they DJ the first Thursday of each month and at select venues around town. Their ongoing collaboration results in a distinct sound that can only be described as DELUXE.
